The park as usual was a site of lots of action!
And the market was in full swing for a persons other needs
…and limes and oranges
And wonderful things being sold like these Lychees
And there were children singing
Always… pupusas hot off the griddle

Three by three. Three of our computer based learning students in El Chilar are our third year students with the computer based learning program in El Chilar. If we hadn’t made Grade 7, 8, and 9 available via the computer based learning program, they would have gone no further than 6th grade. What’s next for them. All I know is that they now have a chance to continue on and perhaps help break the chain of poverty in their communities. One of the girls wants to be a nurse.

The last time I was at CARRIZALITO it was for the opening and a grand day it was! This was another … the whole community turned up for fun and games! We learned about germs and washing hands, did crafts, and the crowning glory was giving out a treat bag to each child. Karen wasn’t able to come for the opening two years ago and today she got a feel of the excitement and pride of the people in this school that she helped fund through A Better World and that the community built brick by brick.
Karen, Scott and I are trying to communicate using Spanglish
We started the event with each child printing their names on the porch of the school
Next on the the agenda was the presentation about germs … Where are they? Can you see them? How do we kill them?
One of the ways we kill them is by washing our hands
Like children everywhere, I think their favorite part was receiving a treat bag with some toys and a bag of trail mix inside
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, ADIOS CARRIZALITO.

Thank you for the great company… and…
Christiane. For your
assistance both financially and in visiting Copan each year. She has been part of the projects since the beginning and shares her perspective, helps with activities and assessing the projects. I appreciate her interest in the projects and the people they serve.
Karen. For always being there to lend an ear to my joys and concerns. Her confidence in my choosing projects by financially supporting them (especially the school in Carrizalito) has been a great support over the years.
Scott. Our “newbie”. This has been Scott’s first trip to Copan. It has been great fun to see his reaction to the enthusiastic children, the projects, the long trips on rough roads, the food, and the people. He was able to see the school desks in Carrizalito that his donation bought.

…and it was to be an important one. Saul arranged for us to meet with the Ministry of Education from La Entrada, and the directors of Plan International to discuss piloting a computer based learning program. They have three communities that are eager to start, but I think we need to pilot it in one community as a trial.
In the afternoon we prepared the materials and treat bags for tomorrow’s event in the A Better World funded school in Carizalito.
